Background History:

Sasuke was the youngest son born to Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha, and although extremely proud to be a member of the elite Uchiha clan, he was always in the shadow of his older brother Itachi, a prodigy respected and perhaps resented by his peers and family. Although jealous of Itachi and wishing Fugaku would give him the same attention and praise, Sasuke loved Itachi, or at least he did until his brother killed the rest of the clan off when he was 13 and Sasuke was only 8. Itachi told Sasuke that he was too weak and pitiful to even be killed, and that if Sasuke wanted revenge, he would have to let his hatred for his older brother grow until he was stronger.

Sasuke then swore to do whatever he had to to make Itachi pay for what had happened, and so he trained even harder to become a skilled shinobi, until he was seen as a genius, the best of that year's graduating Genin class.

However, he was then sorted into a squad alongside Uzumaki Naruto and Haruno Sakura, and Sasuke began to value them as his friends, even if he wouldn't admit to such. That is, until the fateful day when Itachi, now a member of the criminal organisation Akatsuki, returned to Konoha. Sasuke rashly challenged Itachi, but was easily beaten by his brother. That, combined with his jealously over how Naruto seemed to gain strength rapidly, lead to Sasuke finally abandoning Konoha to seek power from the enemy of the village - Orochimaru, who had marked Sasuke with a special curse seal some time prior.

Despite the best efforts of Naruto and Sakura, Sasuke didn't hesitate to leave Konoha, and nor did he hesitate to try and kill both of them the next time they met, 3 years later. After betraying and overcoming Orochimaru, Sasuke set up his own squad, Hebi(snake) to search for Itachi. It wasn't long before the brothers were reunited, and although he was close to death, Sasuke won, Itachi finally succumbing to a disease which had ravaged his body for some time. His death also gave Sasuke a new power - the death of his closest person allowed him to unlock the Mangekyou Sharingan, the evolved version of the Uchiha's special ability, the Sharingan eyes.

However, it was then that Itachi's mentor and the leader of Akatsuki, Uchiha Madara, the founder of the Uchiha clan, revealed himself to Sasuke and told him the 'truth' of Itachi's life. That in fact he had been ordered to kill the clan on Konoha's orders, fearing the clan would attempt a coup to give themselves more power. Itachi, not liking the prospect of a new civil war, agreed to the mission on the condition that Sasuke would not be touched after he fled the village to live as a criminal.

Heartbroken and angered by the truth of his brother's life, Sasuke then swore revenge on Konoha, determined to make them suffer as he had. That is, until he was pulled from the Narutoverse and ended up following the crimson butterfly...
